USA Student Visa

About

The United States of America, often referred to as the USA, is a popular study abroad destination for Indian students. It is the largest, most technologically advanced and powerful economy in the world, and boasts 50 states. It is a melting pot of different cultures and is known as the “Land of Opportunity”, drawing students from around the globe. The US is renowned for its education and research, and 13-15 of its colleges and universities are ranked among the top 20 in the world. It is also a hub of innovation and development, which is

reflected in its education system. To study in the US, students need to apply for a non-immigrant visa, such as an F1 or M1.

Important Highlights of USA

The F1 student visa is provided for a period of five years. The duration of the stay is determined by the degree program you enrolled in, which is specified on the I20 form. STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, are the key areas that provide the opportunity for students to extend their stay in the United States or to extend their OPT period by two years. Applications for spring, fall, and summer sessions are openly accepted, with all ages and

academic backgrounds being taken into consideration based on the individual's knowledge and skills. The F1 visa regulations do not allow students to work on campus, however they are permitted to do so for a maximum of 20 hours a week.

Admission Process

The USA educational system is highly accommodating. Students are evaluated based on their Grade Point Average (GPA). Each school, private institute, college, and university has its own criteria for admission. Bachelor's degrees are called undergraduate programs, while master's and doctoral degrees are known as graduate programs.

Courses are credit-based. Additionally, Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curriculum Practical Training (CPT) are available, whereby students gain experience in their chosen field for a set period of time, based on the credits they achieved.
