Students applying for Study permit in Canada may apply under below mentioned categories:

 

SDS (Student Direct Stream)

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented the Student Direct Stream (SDS) to expedite the processing of study permit

 

applications. Eligibility requirements for this program include being a legal resident of India, China, Morocco, Pakistan, Senegal, Vietnam, or the Philippines, possessing an acceptance letter from a post-secondary educational institution, demonstrating the payment of tuition fees for the first year of study, residing outside of Canada when applying, having a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of $10,000 CAD, holding a CAQ (if applying to study in Quebec), and demonstrating proficiency in English with a score of 6.0 or higher in each of the 4 IELTS skills.

 

Non-SDS

If you are not a resident of any of the countries mentioned, or are ineligible for SDS processing, you may still qualify for a study permit through the usual application process.

 

 

Processing Time for Canada Student Visa

Generally, it takes around two weeks for the Canadian High Commission to process student visa applications. This does not include the time needed to provide biometrics. The time frame begins once the High Commission has received a fully completed

 

application and ends when a decision is made. The actual amount of time needed to process the applications may vary depending on the quantity of applications that have been received by the High Commission.
